Sausage Appetizer Loaves

Ingredients: |

12 oz |

sausage |
|
1/2 cup |

chopped onion |

1/4 cup |

chopped sweet red pepper |

1/4 cup |

chopped mushroom |
|
6 slices |
|
provolone cheese |
|
1 lb |
|
frozen bread dough, thawed |

egg, beaten |
Directions: |
|
Preheat oven to 400F.
In a skillet, cook sausage over medium-high heat for 3 minutes, chopping into small pieces. Add onion, pepper, and mushrooms. Cook and stir 3-5 minites longer or until sausage is no longer pink; drain and set aside.
Divide dough into thirds. Roll each portion into 10-in X -in rectangle. Layer each with 2 cheese slices. Sprinkle with sausage mixture to within 1/2-in. of edges.
Roll up jelly-roll style. starting with the long side. Seal seams and tuck ents under. Place seamside down on a greased baking sheet. Cut 6 shallow diagonal slits in top of each loaf. Brush with egg.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
