sweet potato soup

you could sprinkle the top of this soup with crumbled bacon, green onions, and/or fresh sage. |
Ingredients: |

3 pound |
|
sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces |
|
1/2 cup |
|
onions, chopped |
|
1/4 cup |
|
maple syrup |
|
1 clove |
|
garlic |
|
1/2 tsp. |
|
dried sage |
|
1/4 tsp. |
|
salt |
|
1/8 tsp. |
|
pepper |
|
2 14 ounce cans |
|
chicken broth |
|
1 cup |
|
water |
|
1/2 cup |
|
half-and-half, light cream, or whole milk |
Directions: |
|
Combine first 7 ingredients in slow cooker. Pour broth and water over the top. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Mash soup to desired consistency. Stir in half and half.
