Cheeseburger Salad

Cheeseburger salad made with Whole wheat buns, a nice healthier alternative to a cheeseburger. |
Ingredients: |

1 Whole |
|
Whole Wheat burger or hot dog buns |
|
1 Divided |
|
small red onion |
|
1 med |
|
plum tomatoes or 1 medium tomato, seeded and diced |
|
1 lb |
|
lean ground turkey |
|
1/2 Cup |
|
finely diced dill pickles |
|
3/4 Cup |
|
ketchup |
|
tbsp |
|
yellow mustard |
|
8 Cups |
|
cups thinly sliced romaine lettuce |
|
1 Cup |
|
cup (4oz) 50% reduced fat cheddar cheese, shredded |
Directions: |

1. Preheat oven to 425F. Sliced buns into large croutons. Arrange in a single layer on a oven safe pan and tost until lightly brown 8-10 minutes. Cool completely.
2. Slice half of the onion into rings.Set these aside with croutons, shredded cheese and diced tomatoes for topping salad before serving. Chop remaining onion.
3. Cook ground turkey over mediu m heat, breaking into crumbles 5-7 mintues or until no longer pink..
4, Combine cooked turkey crumbles with ketchup, mustard, chopped pickles and chopped onion.
5. Arrange lettuce on a serving platter or large bowl. Top with turkey mixture. To with sliced onion, diced tomaotes, croutons and shredded cheese. YUM!
