Baked Ziti with Ground turkery/beef

A very delicious, cheesy baked ziti. Easy to make! |
Ingredients: |

1 LBS |
|
Lean ground beef or turkey |
|
1/2 Cup |
|
chopped onion |
|
1 |
|
Green bell pepper, chopped (about 1/2 cup) |
|
1 Can (14.5 oz) |
|
diced tomatoes, undrained |
|
1 Can (8 oz) |
|
tomato sauce |
|
1/2 TSP |
|
dried basil, crumbled |
|
1/2 TSP |
|
dried leaf oregano, crumbled |
|
1/2 TSP |
|
garlic powder |
|
1 1/2 TSP |
|
salt |
|
1/4 TSP |
|
pepper |
|
8 OZ |
|
Zitiz or elbow macaroni |
|
2 Cups |
|
shredded mozzarella cheese, divided |
Directions: |
|
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Prepare ziti or macaroni (follow directions on package)
3. Saute ground beef/turkey, onion, and green bell pepper in a large skillet until onion is tender and beef is lightly browned.
4. Drain off excess fat; add tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; Stir well
5. Stir in ziti and 1 cup of the cheese; transfer to a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish.
6. Top with the remaining cup of cheese
7. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
